PAID FAMILY LEAVE=HIGHER TAXES=MORE EXPENSIVE GOVERNMENT=LESS JOBS

—Sarlo’s Claim to Be “Pro-Business” Democrat Whopper of the Century —-- GOP Says “Why Not Give People Tax Free Accounts to Save for an Emergency?”

Trenton, NJ -- New Jersey Republican State Committee Chairman Tom Wilson issued the following statement today in response to committee approval of the Democrat’s Paid Family Leave Initiative:

“Thanks to high taxes and stifling regulations, New Jersey is losing the job war and employers and business owners are fleeing the state. Now, we’re going to raise taxes on working families and create a big government program that will make us even less attractive to job creators.

Instead of taking more money from working families, why not let them set up a tax-free account and set aside money to pay their bills when they take unpaid family leave? New Jersey already has a competitive unpaid leave policy. Giving people an incentive to set something aside for their bills should they need to take a leave would address the problem without raising taxes and creating more government.

I thought we were broke and needed to start shrinking state government, not creating new programs that will require new staff, new offices, new computers, and millions of dollars to implement.

If Paul Sarlo were as ‘pro-business’ as he claims, he’d be championing solutions that didn’t end up raising taxes and expanding government.”
