Passaic County Republican Chairman Scott Rumana, on the passing of Assembly Republican Leader Alex DeCroce:

“Words cannot express the utter shock and sadness at the sudden passing of Leader DeCroce. Alex was, first and foremost, a loving, kind and generous family man. As a legislator, he fought for what he believed in, but he was always the ultimate gentleman. For me personally, I have lost a trusted friend. The sting of his passing will be felt for a very long time by our caucus and all those who knew and loved him. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his wife, Betty Lou, and his family.”

The “Recovery Summer” that Never Materialized

Today marks the one-year anniversary of President Obama’s so-called “Recovery Summer.” Unfortunately, as most Americans know all too well, the “Recovery Summer” never materialized. The President promised that his economic policies would ensure that the unemployment rate would not exceed 8%, yet we’ve had an unemployment rate well above 8% for 28 consecutive months. Despite clear evidence that we are headed in the wrong direction, President Obama now tells us this is just a “bump on the road to recovery.” Rather than make excuses for his failed economic policies, he should be stepping up to the plate to work with Republicans to address our country’s dire fiscal crisis that continues to weigh down economic growth and job creation.

In 2009, I was proud to have received the endorsement of the Passaic County Education Associations, Inc., when I ran for the office of Passaic County Clerk. I truly believe their support made all the difference when I was elected as a Republican in
Passaic County in a year that saw Governor Corzine win our County by over 9000 votes.

Since that time, I have continued my relationship with the PCEA and. value the friendships I have made over the past few years.

I am once again asking for your help in the upcoming primary election scheduled for Tuesday, June 7, 2011. I am supporting Michael McLaughlin for Surrogate, Donna Anderson and Michelle Joustra for Freeholders. They are common sense conservative
Republicans who will work together to make Passaic County an affordable and better place to live, work and raise a family. They are not the party of Governor Chris Christie and Scott Rumana who have threatened the health benefits, pensions and collective bargaining rights of all teachers and public servants in New Jersey.

McLaughlin, Anderson and Joustra are the candidates for all the people of Passaic County. We must all work together to protect our livelihoods and our future.
